The formal submission, with documentation, that asks the carrier to revise an approved claim and pay for additional or corrected line items.

Definition

A claim supplement is the paperwork that backs up a supplement request. It’s not just a phone call — it’s a revised estimate, photos, measurements, and a written explanation showing the carrier why the scope needs to change.

You’ll file a claim supplement when you find missing items during the build, when material prices have moved, or when code requires work the original adjuster didn’t include. The carrier reviews it and issues a revised loss summary if they agree.

The difference between a roofer who gets supplements approved and one who doesn’t usually comes down to documentation. Clean photos, accurate measurements, and clear line-item justification get checks released fast.
