MCP server

Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini to HailMate

HailMate has an MCP server, the standard way AI assistants plug into other apps. Add it once, sign in with HailMate, and your assistant can find jobs, move them on the board, write notes and tasks, build estimates and invoices, and text or email homeowners for you.

The address

HailMate MCP server
https://app.hailmate.ai/api/mcp

It speaks the Model Context Protocol over HTTP and signs people in with OAuth, so most assistants need only the address: they send you to HailMate, you pick your company and press Allow. Only owners and admins can allow a connection, because it can see the whole company.

Your assistant cannot add it by itself

Asking Claude or ChatGPT in a chat to “connect to HailMate” will not work: each assistant only lets you add a connector, in its own settings. It takes about 30 seconds, once.

Claude

  1. Open the connector settings

    On claude.ai or in the Claude app: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds it once for the organization.

  2. Paste the address

    Name it HailMate and paste https://app.hailmate.ai/api/mcp. Leave the advanced fields empty.

  3. Connect and sign in

    Press Connect, sign in to HailMate, pick the company and press Allow. In a new chat, turn HailMate on from the tools menu and ask something like “what jobs moved to Claim Approved this week?”

ChatGPT

On a plan that can add connectors: Settings → Apps & Connectors, turn on developer mode under Advanced settings, then Create a connector with the address above and sign in with HailMate.

Or build a custom GPT: under Actions, import the schema from hailmate.ai/docs/api/chatgpt-actions.json and use an API key as a Bearer token.

Gemini, Cursor and other tools

Tools that take a server address and a header use an API key instead of signing in. Make one in HailMate under Settings → API & MCP (open it), then:

Gemini CLI: ~/.gemini/settings.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "hailmate": {
      "httpUrl": "https://app.hailmate.ai/api/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer hm_live_YOUR_KEY" }
    }
  }
}
Cursor: ~/.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "hailmate": {
      "url": "https://app.hailmate.ai/api/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer hm_live_YOUR_KEY" }
    }
  }
}

If a tool says it has too many tools, use https://app.hailmate.ai/api/mcp?toolset=essentials: the 30 most used ones.

What it can do

Every operation in the API reference is a tool, so the assistant can do what a person does in the app:

AreaFor example
Jobs and the boardFind a job by address or name, move it to a stage, assign it, change boards and columns
ContactsLook up a homeowner, add one, add extra phone numbers, put people on a job
Notes, tasks, appointmentsWrite a note, book an inspection, list what is due today
Estimates and invoicesBuild an estimate line by line, send it, send an invoice, record or refund a payment
MessagesRead a job’s texts and emails, text or email the homeowner from your own number and mailbox
InsuranceRead carrier estimates and roof measurements, track supplements
HailHail history at an address

Guardrails

  • It acts as the person who connected it, with their access. A read-only key or connection only reads.
  • It never texts a number that replied STOP, and sends at most 20 messages a minute.
  • Moving a job does what dragging the card does, but never sends the homeowner a stage message.
  • If an assistant retries a send after a dropped answer, it goes out once, not twice.
  • To cut an assistant off, remove its connection on the Keys tab of API & MCP.
